What Hack The Beats is, what Strudel does, what you can do without an account, and four ways in depending on what you want.
The guide
Music you can see, change, perform and remix. Every song here is a short program written in Strudel, running live in your browser. You do not have to know how to code to start: press play, move something, hear what happens. Then find out how the music works.
What Hack The Beats is, what Strudel does, what you can do without an account, and four ways in depending on what you want.
Everything you can do to a song without touching its code: the lit stage, the channels, the knobs and switches, the Try row, the song map, the views and the song list.
The DJ booth: two decks kept in time, Mix and the crossfader, the six pads, the master section, snapshots of a channel as live loops, and a MIDI controller on all of it.
Change a song while it plays: edit the code live, swap sounds, cut and rearrange its bars, capture loops from one song into another, keep versions, and take someone else's song as your own.
For people who write Strudel: how the site reads a song, which lines become knobs, switches, channels and suggestions, and how to write one that performs well on the stage, the decks and the strip.
Record the mix to a WAV file, make a short video clip of the code playing, share a song by link, offer it to the community shelf, and take your songs with you.
Hack The Beats is free: no ads, no paywall, no subscription. If it has had your head nodding, help us keep hacking the beats. Tell a friend who makes music, share a song you made, and wear the shirt.
Every shirt helps keep the site running, free, and full of new beats.
